Country & Culture
From floating villages to local markets around Siem Reap countryside, we know the best places at the right times. Witness local crafts, noodle making, wood carving, sandstone carving, traditional weaving and more. There are often Buddhist ceremonies which can add that extra special moment, best to check with us in advance.
Again, we try and get you to the right place at the right time, early morning or late afternoon, making the best of the available light, while having the knowledge of an experienced photographer with you to help improve your skills. Tours are typically 4-5 hours.
Floating Villages
We have a choice of two villages to visit on the Tonle Sap, both lesser known to the major tourist activity. The biggest village, Kampong Kleang, has several thousand inhabitants and houses on 10m high stilts, quite spectacular. The people here are wonderful and love to see their pictures. There is a mixture of Khmer inland, and Vietnamese in the floating village further out.
The second village, one of my favourite places, Mechrey (best visited high water, Nov-Jan) , a small settlement with a mixture of cultures. This village is truly floating and moved in and out with the water level, best seen at high water around December. At both villages we aim to get you there for the best light when activity is at it’s greatest. For the adventurous, there are over night possibilities, please specifically ask.
